Mary Neal – commemorative programme
about the project

Mary Neal was a social reformer, a folk revivalist, a suffragette, a journalist, a magistrate and an adoptive mother. Her contribution to the folk revival had been largely overlooked until her great niece, Lucy Neal, came into possession of Mary Neal's archive. Lucy decided to donate it to the Vaughan Williams Library at Cecil Sharp House. To mark the handover, a day of dance, music, creative workshops, morris dancing and theatre took place. We were asked to produce a commemorative programme for the life-affirming event.
